With the 'must-have' functions already present on the motherboard, the need for having many expansion slots has faded, and adoption of microATX has increased even to be used in ATX cases.

In the DIY PC market, microATX motherboards in general are favored by cost-conscious buyers, where cost savings for the equivalent feature sets outweigh the added expandability of extra PCI/PCI Express slots provided by the full ATX versions. Since 2006, dual-GPU configurations became possible on microATX motherboards for high-end enthusiast gaming setups, further reducing the need for full ATX motherboards.^[5]

Providing useful information to my audience of slots enthusiasts comes first, right?

This article intends to provide a perspective of what can be learned the first time visiting a casino, in this case, Foxwoods Casino.

Foxwoods Casino Trip Report 2018: Learning to Win at Foxwoods

As described in my last article, learning to win at slots at Foxwoods casino started by simply walking around the casino grounds for hours and hours. I didn’t have a map, nor did I want one. I was observing because that’s useful. I was trying to get a feel for the place.

After a few hours of this, and making the observations detailed in the last article, I heard someone call out, “Professor Slots!’ It’s exciting meeting fellow podcasters for the first time. You generally have no idea who they are until they speak. Then, for me, I usually think they are taller than I expected them to be.

It was Mark and Dr. Mike from the You Can Bet On That gambling podcast for the recreational gambler that called out to me when I was walking out. Correctly, Mark had spotted me. By the way, I was Professor Slots all during this trip, likely because of my branded polo shirt.

On their follow-up podcast, Mark and Dr. Mike were kind enough to mention I’d acted as a guide for them, to get them over to the other side of the casino where everyone was. I’d like to give a special thanks to Mark for adding my name after Professor Slots. That was unexpected and appreciated. Plus, he pronounced Friedl correctly, too!

Anyway, learning to win at Foxwoods was a step-by-step process starting with a long walk, talking with winning slots players, questioning casino staff, and then applying all this to create a winning strategy. You can find this particular explanation here:

Foxwoods Casino Trip Report 2018: High Limit Slots Pull Event Observations

On Saturday, after a late morning group breakfast, Eric Rosenthal from the Vegas Confessions podcast had organized a high limit slot pull for this Gamblepalooza event. Cousin Vito had planned to have a slot pull for some time, with Eric using his vast experience from other meetup events to help run it.

Not to bore you with the details of successfully organizing such an event, quite a few exciting tidbits stand out which I think you might find of interest. Before the event, I wondered if anyone would ask Professor Slots for his opinion.

First off, my current understanding is that Eric had a bet with Vito about how many people would attend this breakfast. I did mention these were all gamblers, right? In the follow-up podcasts that have since come out, I learned that this bet existed.

And, at the time, I didn’t know there was a group breakfast. I didn’t, that is, until Eric saw me in the hallway that morning saying that there was one. I attended when asked, of course. Again, I did mention these are gamblers? And, players like to win!

With that connection, I sat with Eric and his wife at breakfast, and I had a few moments to explain what I’d learned about winning at slots at Foxwoods Casino. When I suggested moving from slot machine to slot machine, to win a little at each, Eric kindly explained to me that doing so would be unpopular with the crowd. Lynching is such an ugly word. Right?

But, during the event itself, Eric was able to try a few of my suggestions. I don’t think they helped much, but the high limit slots pull didn’t occur in the casino I would have picked. It took place in one of the older casinos, as it happens.

So, with everyone gathered around, Eric started off the event by reviewing the rules none of us had read. The plan was anyone who cared to could buy in with one or more shares of $100. Altogether, about 30 people had purchased 44 shares. Therefore, in this hand, Eric had $4,400.

Another agreement amongst the group was to either double our money or spend it all. Unless we went over $8,800 at any point, we would spend it all. Cool, huh?

Quickly, I should mention that they needed a volunteer to accept the tax burden for any taxable jackpot won. I was a little shocked when nobody volunteered. When I saw this, I naturally stepped forward and volunteered. The applause was nice.

The next step was Eric recommending that it be my players reward club card in the machine to get the associated rewards points for betting these thousands of dollars.

I declined, pointing out I wasn’t a regular at Foxwoods. I counter suggested that it should be the rewards club card of our host, Vito. Again, the applause was nice.

To help speed things along, Eric had inserted 20 of the $100 bills to create a $2,000 voucher. I don’t know if you know this, but some states have a limit on how much can be in a slot machine at any one time. In Ohio, and it seems Connecticut, the limit is $3,000.

So, with $2,400 in the slot machine and $2,000 on a voucher held by Eric, the high limit slot pull began on a $100 denomination, 1-credit Wheel of Fortune slot machine. Again, quickly, several small 2-credit wins took place over time. With 17 credits left on the slot machine, and Eric’s $2,000 voucher yet unused, the slot machine landed on Spin.

Up to this point, the crowd had started reasonably excited, but that excitement had died down quite a bit over time. However, landing on a bonus spin, where a relatively large jackpot was assured, anywhere from $2,500 to $25,000. I was going to get a taxable jackpot!

Once spun, we got a $4,500 hand pay jackpot. Filling out paperwork took a while, as it always does. And, handing over the stack of 45 $100 bills to Eric, from my open palm to his, was somewhat painful. But, those were the rules.

So, we kept playing. We kept winning more 1- or 2-credit jackpots. However, we didn’t win more taxable jackpots. We tried switching to a second slot machine, then others. Boredom started to set in, so we sped it up by just letting one person press the button on the slot machine until all the money was gone.

With all that as a description, this is what I noticed during the slot pull. People got bored. Very bored. This wasn’t exciting except when it was very exciting. The comments I heard were, “When will this be over?” and “Can’t we go any faster?”

Blanche decides to become a novelist, but immediately suffers writer's block.

Dorothy laments his lost humanity and hopes he'll have a better doctor than himself when he needs one someday. Blanche stays awake for three days and delioursly writes a manuscript, but is rejected by publishers. She believes there will be nothing special about her if she fails to achieve fame, but Rose explains that her Minnesota upbringing taught her that friends and family are special.

A visit to a local sperm bank with her roommates and Becky also fails to convince Blanche, but Dorothy finally persuades Blanche to accept that Becky is an adult who must make her own decisions; Blanche apologizes and will be part of her daughter's and grandchild's lives--although the older women all agree the idea of the procedure is off-putting. Dorothy succeeds in getting a reluctant Sophia to have a checkup.

Welles filmed approximately 75 minutes of the production, with the original cast, at the Hackney Empire and Scala Theatres in London. He hoped to sell the film to Omnibus, the United States television series which had presented his live performance of King Lear in 1953; but Welles stopped shooting when he was disappointed in the results. The film is lost.^[1]

The setting is a mid-19th-century American repertory theater. The play begins subtly as the audience arrives with the cast milling around an empty stage. The cast members generally fool around and complain about their boss and their forthcoming production of King Lear. Then, making a big dramatic entrance and smoking a cigar, the actor manager of the time comes on stage and tells them they are going to rehearse a version of Moby Dick that he has been adapting for the stage.

The cast grudgingly performs the play, improvising scenery from items lying around, and gradually get more into character as the play develops.

The Island View is the successor to the Copa Casino, which was first located on a docked cruise ship and then a barge-based building at the Mississippi State Docks, across U.S. Highway 90 (Beach Blvd.) from the current location. The Copa and its neighbor, Grand Casino Gulfport, were both destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. When Grand Casino's parent Harrah's Entertainment decided not to rebuild, it sold the Grand site to Copa owners Rick Carter and Terry Green. When Mississippi legislators changed casino laws to permit new casinos to be built on dry land, the duo used the Grand's former hotel as a temporary casino for Phase I of their redevelopment. There are loads of games like “Charlie Charlie” bopping around the internet; what's more, the rules for most of them are usually just a Google search away. Feel like tempting fate today? Maybe today's the day that you really, really want to creep yourself out? Read on.

I've mentioned before that I consider creepypasta to be the modern day equivalent of the urban legends so many of us grew up telling at sleepovers and around campfires. Games and rituals like 'Charlie Charlie' are no different; indeed, these days, they're even classified as a particular subgenre of creepypasta: 'Ritualpasta.' What's notable about ritualpasta is that the stories often get their punch from making you, the reader, into the protagonist — the star of the tale.

This is probably why I spend so much of my free time reading and researching them, although I'll admit that I'm usually to wary to actually want to try playing them.

Do I believe any of these games actually work? To be honest, not really. I suspect that some of them — the ones that are closer to meditation than to the alleged summoning of a ghost or demon or whatever — might yield more tangible results; however, your mileage is likely to vary in each and every case. If you do give any of them a shot, though, I'd recommend taking them absolutely seriously: Don't cut corners, take common sense precautions, and don't treat them as a joke. Even if you don't really believe in them… well, better safe than sorry, right?

1. The Three Kings

A Redditor going by the name FableForge posted the instructions — or “recipe,” as it later became known — for The Three Kings on the r/NoSleep subreddit during the summer of 2012. It became so popular that it later spawned a subreddit of its own devoted entirely to games and rituals of this sort. The setup involves shutting yourself in a room with two mirrors at 3:30 in the morning and… seeing what happens.

The mirrors should be set up on two chairs facing each other, while you yourself settle on a third chair placed between them. Your chair is your “throne,” making you the King; the mirrors are your Queen and your Fool, although you may know not which is which. It's also worth noting that, from the Queen and Fool's point of view, you're either their Queen or their Fool. The game is called The Three Kings, remember?

As for what the point of the ritual is? That's a little less clear. The idea is to access what FableForge calls “the Shadowside,” although why you would want to go there — or even just peek at it through a window — sort of depends on each individual. Personally, I think it functions kind of like hypnosis or meditation; you might learn something about yourself — something you may not have consciously thought before — while playing it. Just make sure that whatever you think you might learn during this game is really worth it. Some things, we're better off not knowing.

2. Tsuji-ura, or the Fortune Game

Tsuji-ura is said to have originated many, many years ago in Japan; however, there are similar games found in cultures all over the world. You might hear it called the Fortune Game, for example, or even Crossroads Divination — this last moniker, of course, referring to the location in which the game must take place: A crossroads. Crossroads, you see, have long been viewed not just as the space where two roads intersect, but also the space where two worlds intersect — our own world, and the world… beyond the veil, so to speak.

Tsuji-ura is a little less involved than some of the other games on this list, making it easier to play if you’re just dipping your toe into the ritualpasta waters. (It should be noted, though, that the stakes are still pretty high; they always are in these types of games.) All you have to do to play is find a comb and something to cover your face with, take them to a crossroad when it's dark out, strum the teeth of the comb a few times to make some noise, and chant “Tsuji-ura, Tsuji-ura, grant me a true response” three times. If a stranger approaches you, cover your face; then ask them to tell your fortune. If you’re lucky, they’ll accept — but don't push it if they refuse.

Fun fact: A “Tsuji-ura senbei” is a type of Japanese rice cracker that functions sort of like a fortune cookie. It's savory, rather than sweet, but the idea is quite similar.

3. The Doors of Your Mind

The version known as The Doors of Your Mind seems unique to Reddit, where it appeared in 2012; however, some folks remembering playing it under the name Black Door, White Door in the mid-1990s, while others recollect a version called Red Door, Yellow Door. No matter which version you play, though, it’s relatively low risk compared to a lot of other games and rituals: It’s basically a form of meditation, with the goal being simply to explore the contents of your own head. Visualizing the interior of your mind as a long corridor with many doors and rooms shooting off of it allows you to take your time walking through everything, potentially helping you sort out problems or maybe just allowing you to learn something about yourself.

Be warned, though: There could be some unpleasant or downright nasty things lurking in the location you conjure up. It's not unheard of for threatening personages to appear and lock you in one of the rooms — and getting locked in can sometimes… complicate things. Also know that you don't have to open every door; if you get a bad feeling from one, you might want to leave it shut.
